Privacy Policy

MyFundAction Australia (“we”, “us”, “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Overview

We are the Australian entity MyFundAction Australia Ltd (ABN 42 675 602 730), a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). We collect personal information so we can accept donations, keep supporters informed, and run our humanitarian programs.

This policy applies to information we collect through this website and when you donate, contact us, or otherwise interact with us. By using this website or making a donation, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

Information we collect

Information you give us

When you donate or get in touch, we may collect your name, email address, phone number, postal address, donation amount and frequency, and any message, dedication or comment you choose to provide. Your payment card details are entered directly into our payment provider and are not collected or stored by us.

Information we collect automatically

When you visit the website, we and our analytics providers may automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, the links you click, and the website that referred you. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see below).

Sensitive information

We do not seek to collect sensitive information (such as your religious beliefs) and ask that you do not send it to us unless it is necessary. Where you provide it voluntarily, we handle it with the additional protections required by law.

How we use your information

We use the personal information we collect to:

  • process your donation and issue a receipt;
  • provide tax-deductible receipts and meet our financial, charity and record-keeping obligations;
  • send you updates, thank-yous and impact reports about our work (where you have not opted out);
  • administer recurring (monthly) gifts;
  • respond to your enquiries and requests;
  • operate, secure and improve the website and measure the effectiveness of our appeals and advertising;
  • comply with our legal obligations.

Donation payments

Donations are processed securely by Fundraise Up and its payment processors (such as Stripe). When you donate, your payment details are collected and processed by them under their own terms and privacy policies. We receive confirmation of your donation and the contact details you provide, but we never see or store your full card number.

You can review Fundraise Up's privacy practices at fundraiseup.com/privacy.

Cookies & analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to make the website work, to remember your preferences, and to understand how the site is used. We may use:

  • Google Analytics (GA4) — to measure website traffic and how visitors use the site;
  • Meta Pixel — to measure the performance of our Facebook and Instagram advertising and, where enabled, to show our appeals to relevant audiences.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, and manage ad personalisation in your Meta ad preferences. Blocking some cookies may affect how the website functions.

Who we share your information with

We may share your personal information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate — including payment processing (Fundraise Up, Stripe), email delivery, analytics, and website hosting;
  • the wider MyFundAction network and delivery partners, where necessary to coordinate and report on the aid your donation supports;
  • professional advisers such as auditors and lawyers;
  • government, regulatory or law-enforcement bodies where we are required or authorised by law.

We never sell your personal information, and we only disclose it for the purposes described in this policy.

Overseas disclosure

Some of our service providers — including Fundraise Up, analytics and cloud-hosting providers — are located outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries. This means your personal information may be stored or processed overseas. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Data security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, including using reputable providers and encrypting payment information in transit. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

How long we keep your information

We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes it was collected, and to meet our legal, financial, taxation and charity-reporting obligations. Donation and receipt records are retained for the periods required by Australian law. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

Direct marketing & your choices

If you have supported us or asked to hear from us, we may send you updates about our work and appeals. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in our emails or by contacting us. We will action your request promptly.

Accessing & correcting your information

You have the right to ask for access to the personal information we hold about you and to request that we correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date or incomplete. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity first, and we will respond within a reasonable time.

If you have a privacy concern or complaint, please contact us and we will do our best to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).

Children's privacy

This website is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. The “last updated” date at the top shows when it was last revised. We encourage you to review it periodically; significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
